Pet Portraits

I started painting pet portraits about 7 years ago, shortly after moving to Santa Fe. Many commissions are memorial pieces, and it is always an honor to render peoples’ best furry friends in pencil or paint to live with them for many more years! I work in pencil on toned paper, watercolor, and sometimes in acrylics and oils. I take commissions any time of year but the heaviest load is before the holidays, so if you are ordering for a holiday gift, please order early!
 

I’m happy to mat and frame pieces for you for a nominal charge, but I strictly use upcycled frames, which are rarely flawless but also carry a smaller carbon footprint and a much lower pricetag than new frames. Unless otherwise requested, dimensions are usually roughly 8x10 for image size- by time that gets a nice double mat the frame is often 11x14, so outside dimensions, depending on frame, run close to 15x20.

• Pencil on toned paper: $150 

• Acrylics: $200

• Watercolor: $225

• Oils: $250    

• Matting and framing: $50

 

Portraits are generally only as good as the reference photos, so the better the picture you provide, the more accurate the painting or drawing. Please allow 3-4 weeks for completion. Email inquiries and reference pics and we can start yours soon!
